"A Childhood Dream" (COLLECTORS ALERT!) is an absolutely stunning, large, musical, TRIPLE parlor kaleidoscope, and is #3 of only 5 made by Italian artist Massimo Strino. This scope features a huge, manually turning carousel that is adorned with Swarovski crystals, glass beads, sparkly jewel findings, and other glittery items and has fanciful rising and falling animals, including various horses, a lion, tiger, zebra, and two sleds with tiny people enjoying the ride. There are TWO different music boxes hidden in the base, one plays the classic tune of "Over the Waves" and the second plays "Memory" from 'Cats', and each features a teeny tiny carousel horse that you turn as a switch to halt the music. The scope body is a large rectangular box with a lovely velveteen and shimmery rainbow effect covering, is attached to a pivoting stand that easily moves so you can view different areas of the carousel, and features 2 little spotlights to illuminate the carousel (power cord included). Inside the body are THREE separate kaleidoscopes each with a different mirror system; the first is a chorus line system, the second is a 2-mirror 17-point 'mandala' style system, and the third is a square 4-mirror system. Beneath the scope body there is a spinning turntable that you can place small items on to view through the scopes, just tip the body downward, pointing it at the little disk, a nice addition to the fun! Approximate measurements for this stunning collectors piece are; BASE 20.25"L x 12.25"W x 2.5"T, SCOPE 9.5"L x 5.75"W x 3.75"T, and CAROUSEL 10.75" Diameter. This scope has been titled (Un Sogno D'Infanzia), numbered (3/5), dated (2005), and signed (Massimo) by the artist.
