'Alpha' is an incredible, limited edition of 3, Steampunk-style parlor kaleidoscope by John Grimberg. John had spent several hundred hours to design and machine this unique kaleidoscope and only 3 units were made. This scope comes with a custom designed pedestal to which the scope is solidly mounted. The pedestal table is wired with 2 halogen lamps that are specifically designed to illuminate the object cell with a particular warmth and glow. There is a hand crank that will rotate the object cell using meticulously engineered gears, for your viewing pleasure, and the angle of the scope in relation to the lighting is also adjustable. The object cell contains several hand lampwork glass pieces made by glass artist Leslie Ann Bitgood, along with a few machined and found objects, such as a Rolex watch face and coiled wires. Additionally, the object chamber opens and is user accessible so that any number of small items could be added or subtracted allowing the user to customize the image to fit their particular taste. The 2-Mirror, 5-Point system creates spectacular, mandala-style, Steampunk themed kaleidoscopic imagery to delight all that happen to see inside. The entire piece, including the table, measures approximately 4.75 ft tall and the table top is 20" in diameter. Numbered, signed, and dated.
