'Ariel Visions' is a brilliantly fun, vintage, handheld kaleidoscope by American artist Danny Wilson. This COLLECTORS piece is a sturdy construction of stained glass and found objects. The body is 3-sided with two panels of white stained glass with a lovely rainbow sheen, and the third, underside, is stained glass in a rainbow stripe. There is a turning AND spinning object barrel constructed of various strips of interesting, colorful, textured, stained glass and a slice of agate, with assorted glass and crystal faceted gemstones, Dichroic (color shifting) glass, a crystalized geode slice, a chain of rhinestones, metal adornments, and fancy soldering, but peek inside the barrel and you will see colored glass rods that add varying layers of depth to the imagery created. Slowly spin this interesting barrel (but don't forget to turn it too!) and move a flashlight along the rainbow striped underside, and the imagery will shift colors to create almost endless and gorgeous kaleidoscopic imagery. This scope's constructions is VERY sturdy and the barrel is easily removable, making cleaning and care a breeze. The imagery is absolutely spectacular and MUCH better with the naked eye than the camera could capture, best viewed on a PC, I had a lot of fun shooting this scope. Simply a must for collectors, this rare work of art measures approximately 14"L x 6.25"T x 4.5"W including the barrel, and is initialed (JDWIII) by the artist.
