"Azure D'or - Midas" is a gorgeous handheld kaleidoscope by Japanese artist Yusuke Honma. The body was created from a raw brass cylinder, which will develop a natural patina over time, that has been hand treated to create a beautiful textured look with polished "clouds" dotting the surface. This scope houses a 2-mirror, 11-point system and has an oil-filled, non turning, black background, side-lit object cell containing handmade lampwork glass pieces, dichroic glass bits, tiny gears, assorted beads, and sparkly faceted glass gemstones. This scope creates gorgeous 'mandala-style' kaleidoscopic imagery in rich deep blues. Measures approximately 5"L x 1.25"W and includes a custom created, balsa wood storage box.
From the artist: "Utilizing the natural corrosive properties of copper, this scope's green patina was artificially created with rice bran, chemicals, and flame, causing this unique texture and color. This is a traditional technique that produces vivid colors."
