"Book Nook" is a parlor/handheld kaleidoscope by Barbara Spikes. The bottom of this scope is a book size construction representing the interior of a building complete with an internal light source and covered with textured leather. On top of this construction is a 3-mirror, rectangular kaleidoscope that attaches at the bottom with a magnet. So, this scope can be used as both a parlor or a handheld. The object cell is a 4-1/2"L, turning, oil-filled glass cylinder that includes colorful glass pieces, millefilori, and beads. Each of these scope creations has a different interior look to the "building"portion of the piece. The entire piece measures 13-1/4"T x 3"W x 7" deep.
