Product Details
"Bridge" is a substantially sized parlor kaleidoscope by American artists Mark and Carol Reynolds. The body is hardwood, accented with inlaid glittery circles of color, and is mounted on a Burl Wood base in a crescent shape, much like the emblem of the Starship Enterprise crew badges. There are also circular cut outs with iridescent glass inserts that allow light into the body, illuminating the "rays" shooting out from the central sphere, adding to the absolutely incredible kaleidoscopic imagery created within the piece. Included are two interchangeable, turning, top and side lit, oil-filled object cells containing lamp-worked glass, millefiori, assorted beads, and many other colorful, glittery, and interesting items. This work of art also has an extra large viewing port which allows for viewing with both eyes at the same time. Included are two freestanding, matching Burl Wood based, spotlights for illuminating this masterpiece. Entire piece measures approximately 19"T x 20"L x 12.5"W, and the object wheels are about 7.5" in diameter. Titled ("BRIDGE"), numbered (#2), dated (1/13/2021) and signed (Mark and Carol Reynolds) by the artists.

Mark says that the inspiration for the form of this scope comes from the 'Starship Enterprise'. The Bridge on the Enterprise is the central brain of the whole starship. The imagery you see in this kaleidoscope is Mark's rendition of what you would see on the Bridge when the Captain tells the crew to "Engage" as they enter 'warp drive' into space. The word 'Bridge' has many meanings in our lives and this is just one of them.
