"Carousel" is a unique parlor Teleidoscope by woodworking master and artist, Steven Gray. This sculptural scope is ultra interactive and seriously fun. Under a tripod of wooden arches lies a kinetically operated turntable that is suspended by three brass cables and holds five interchangeable, reversable, and completely removable fabric panels. Because this is a teleidoscope, you aren't limited to just the panels, you can also simply place any small objects you'd like onto the wooden turntable and they will become magnificent kaleidoscopic imagery. (As seen in the listing photos, I've used lifesavers, ornaments, and an American flag pinwheel, all looking very cool through this scope!) The barrel of the teleidoscope itself is Maple Burl, houses a 3-mirror system, and has wonderful little spiky dark wood accents in the design. The viewing angle in which the Teleidoscope sits in relation to the turntable can be adjusted by loosening the wooden knob holding the scope in place. The scope is also completely removable from the carousel. Carousel measures approximately 17.75"T x 18"W, teleidoscope itself is approx 13.5"L x 3"Diameter at the viewing end. This piece is signed (S.J. Gray), numbered (22/30) and dated (1987) by the artist. This is a gorgeous and rare technical masterpiece that is a must have for any serious collector.
