'Chandala' is an utterly unique VINTAGE (1991) collector's handheld kaleidoscope by renowned American kaleidoscope artist Sherry Moser. The triangular body has two mauve/white swirled, flashy iridescent stained glass panels and the third bottom side is a translucent, textured, dichroic (color shifting) glass panel, and features a garnet red glass rod accent with fancy soldering techniques. Inside are free floating objects of lampwork glass in an open and dry, 2-mirror system, which create an unbelievable 3-DIMENSIONAL "Chandelier" image effect with incredible depth and ever moving, layered, kaleidoscopic imagery. Shooting this scope was completely challenging and fun, I've never seen anything quite like it. Sets of photos are grouped here to show the importance of moving a light along the Dichroic side of the scope to get the color changing effects when you look inside, just give the scope a little shake and create a new design with the loose pieces inside, HOW COOL! This scope is quite old at 35 years so some flaws can be seen but considering the pure awesomeness of the piece any collector would love to have it to show off to friends and family. Measures approximately 8" x 2.75"T x 1.25"W and is dated ('91), and signed (S. Moser) by the artist.
