"Cryptogrm" is a spectacular double parlor kaleidoscope collaboration by Japanese artists Jun Kojima and Rika Kita. The body is handcrafted in ceramic, with a gorgeous, rustic, periwinkle blue, matte glaze with etched outer designs that have brushed gold accents, and sits on a wrought iron stand. The object cell sits behind 20 dichroic glass panels which, depending on how light shines through them, will change the colors inside of the scope. The enclosed cell smoothly spins by an antiqued brass knob and is oil-filled, containing handcrafted glass-work bits & pieces and other colorful, sparkly objects. This double kaleidoscope has two viewing ports, the first is a 3-mirror, 18-point system which gives utterly breathtaking kaleidoscopic visuals. The second viewing port is a 2-mirror, 10-point system which produces magnificent mandala kaleidoscopic imagery. Entire piece measures approximately 14"T x 8.5"L x 5"W at the base, scope itself is approx 10.25" x 3.75"Diameter at the cell end. Included is a free-standing, battery (3-AAA) operated spotlight to use while viewing.
*Jun Kojima graduated from Tama Art University and has exhibited works in Karakow, Poland (2005). This artist considers making a kaleidoscope "alchemy", which leads the visitor to a different "dimensional world" the moment they look into the tiny eye piece.
