"Desert Lace" is a handheld kaleidoscope by Steve and Sherry Hopkins. The body of these scopes is staved and bookmatched wood, with a delicate fiber overlay from the interior of a Prickly Pear Cactus, harvested and upcycled in a process created and used only by award-winning Jerome, AZ artists, John and Lauri Maeder. These scopes have oil-filled, side-lit, turning end object cells in which the lacy effect of the cactus is repeated, accenting the copper and turquoise lampworked glass, beads, dichroic film or glass, crystals, gemstones, metals and fabrics included in the cell. These scopes have a 2-mirror 6-point system, come with a wooden stand, and measure 7-1/8"L x 3" in diameter.
