Product Details
"Disco" is a small, lovely, musical parlor kaleidoscope by Japanese artist Hiroshi Wakabayashi. The barrel of this scope is a clear acrylic tube with hand painted, metallic speckling inside, semi-precious stones embedded in golden-glittery polymer clay decorative embellishments, and houses a 3-mirror system. When you turn the key on the front of the scope, a delightful tune plays as the object disc (which features beads, sparkly glass gems, and a genuine pearl) slowly rotates, creating beautiful, shimmery, moving kaleidoscopic imagery. The body of the scope is held in place by decorative curved metal rods that are mounted onto the acrylic box base, which has the same artistic treatment as the scope barrel. Then the base, which houses the music box mechanicals, is mounted to heat treated copper footing which stabilizes the piece. Hiroshi creates each scope by hand so some slight variations in the design should be expected. Piece measures approximately 9.5"T x 5"Square at the footing and is initialed (H.W.) by the artist.
