"ELECTRASCOPE" is a rare (COLLECTORS ALERT 1982!) "world's first electronic kaleidoscope" by American artist Peach Reynolds. This unique kaleidoscope is an 8V battery powered, sound activated, high tech, 3-mirror system, in a heavy polished brass body. Because this vintage scope is 43 years old, there are some scratches and slight tarnish on the body but this doesn't take away from the fun contained inside. Pick your favorite song and TURN IT UP, point the scope toward your speaker and peep inside for a visual light show that will thrill and delight. This scope is supposedly activated when picked up, but I've discovered any sound in the room will trigger the light show inside, even if it's on a shelf, so for storing it while not in use it's probably wisest to just remove the little 8V battery in order to retain power until you're ready to play. The end cap is removable by 3 tiny screws, battery sits nestled in a thin plastic listening system and snaps easily on and off the wired connection. Although the end does turn, it serves no real purpose as the red, yellow and green LED circuits are triggered through sound vibrations. I had a lot of fun shooting the inside (video available on our facebook and Instagram accounts) but capturing still photographs was a challenge because the lights are FAST, so please bare this in mind when checking out the listing pics. Measures approximately 13"L x 3"Diameter at either end.
