Product Details
"Elixir Pot" is a spectacular, one-of-a-kind, handheld kaleidoscope collaboration by Japanese artists Jun Kojima and Rika Kita. This four sided scope's body is ceramic on the top, with a magnificently textured blue/green glaze and etched designs with gold accents. The lower half is made of four dichoric glass panels, each changing color depending on how light hits it. Together, they give the aura of a mysterious found bottle from a long lost legend. This pot of elixir houses an enclosed, turning (by a knob at the underside), oil-filled object cell containing handcrafted glasswork bits and pieces and other unknown, 'magical' objects. This is a 3-mirror, 10-point system that gives utterly spellbinding kaleidoscopic visuals. Measures approximately 7"T x 3"W. Included is a black wood base to display this piece on, with a chained dust cover to protect the viewing lens when not in use.
Jun Kojima graduated from Tama Art University and has exhibited works in Karakow, Poland (2005). This artist considers making a kaleidoscope "alchemy", which leads the visitor to a different "dimensional world" the moment they look into the tiny eye piece.
