"Float" is a really cool parlor kaleidoscope by artist Carolyn Bennett. This scope's body was made with a clear glass tube that leaves the internal 3-mirror system fully exposed, quite unusual. There is a smooth turning, oil-filled, object cell which contains dichoric glass, glass beads, and other bits and pieces. The aluminium cell and viewing ends were attached to the glass body with four large bolts, giving a sleek industrial feel to this wicked scope. The kaleidoscope is attached to a base crafted with glossy black and opaque white acrylics. Carolyn also constructed a coordinating spotlight to illuminate the interior of "Float" for viewing enjoyment. This parlor scope measures approximately 10.75"T x 8.75"D, bottom of the base is about 7.25"diameter. Signed (C. Bennett) and dated (2024) by the artist.
