Product Details
"Grimoire" is a mysterious, diorama, parlor kaleidoscope by Japanese artists Jun Kojima & Rika Kita. A grimoire is a textbook of magic, typically including instructions on how to create magical objects like talismans and amulets, how to perform magical spells, charms, and divination, and how to summon or invoke supernatural entities such as angels, spirits, deities, and demons. This unique Grimoire was created from panels of ceramic featuring hand-etched images of saints, angels, heraldry, winged creatures, flowers, birds and other interesting things, with rustic glazes in multiple colors and gold accents, giving it an authentic ancient look fitting for the title of Grimoire. Open the cover/door and explore inside where mysterious items abound. The actual (2-mirror, 6-point) kaleidoscope is suspended from the ceiling of the diorama and there are two interchangeable object disks that are covered in even more mysterious things. Press the pocket-watch button on top, lights turn on and the disk will spin as you peep into the viewing port hidden in the skeleton key and watch ever moving kaleidoscopic magnificence. This piece was created with meticulous Japanese perfection and is an absolute MASTERPIECE. Operational instructions (in English and Japanese), four spare lightbulbs, 120V to 100V voltage converter, and custom made, wooden, storage case for object disks and spare bulbs are all included. Piece measures approximately 10.25"T x 9"W x 5.75"D.
*Jun Kojima graduated from Tama Art University and has exhibited works in Kraków, Poland (2005). This artist considers making a kaleidoscope "alchemy", which leads the visitor to a different "dimensional world" the moment they look into the tiny eye piece.
