"Jewel Under the Lotus" is a unique handheld kaleidoscope by Italian artist Massimo Strino. The body of this piece was created from a copper and brass Tibetan incense container that houses a fantastic 2-mirror, 8-point system which creates incredibly sharp mandala-style kaleidoscopic imagery, representing the "8-fold path to enlightenment". The script on the end cap is a powerful mantra in Tibetan Buddhism, the Mantra of Compassion, "Om Mani Padme Hum", which translates to "Praise to the jewel in the lotus". By meditating on each of the 8 points of this mandala you may achieve a blessed state of balance and harmony, or you may just want to enjoy the beauty of the mandala in motion. The oil-filled, front lit, turning object chamber contains with a mixture of glass, crystal, and semi-precious gemstones, including Amethyst, Aquamarine, Garnet, Citrine, Iolite, Peridot, and Crystal Quartz.
