"Jewel Under the Lotus" is a unique and lovely handheld kaleidoscope by Italian artist Massimo Strino. The body of this piece was made from a copper and brass Tibetan incense container and it houses a 2-mirror system, creating an 8-point "mandala style" image, representing the 8-fold path to enlightenment. The script on the end-cap is a powerful mantra in Tibetan Buddhism, the Mantra of Compassion, "Om Mani Padme Hum", which translates to "Praise to the jewel in the lotus". By meditating on each of the 8 points of this mandala you may achieve a blessed state of balance and harmony, or you may just want to enjoy the beauty of the mandala in motion. The oil-filled object chamber, contains with a mixture of glass, crystal, and semi-precious gemstones, including Amethyst, Aquamarine, Garnet, Citrine, Iolite, Peridot, and Crystal Quartz.
