"Mirage" is a cool handheld kaleidoscope by artist Carolyn Bennett. This scope's body was made from a tube of brushed aluminum that houses a 3-mirror, 5-point system. There is a smooth turning, dry, object cell containing clear glass beads, clear acrylic cylindrical pieces, iridescent glitter stars, and other bits and pieces, and has a clear, translucent, frosted background. If you'll notice, the pieces inside this scope's cell are mostly completely clear, but when light passes through them, you'll magically see vivid COLORS in the kaleidoscopic imagery the mirrors creates due to a polarized filter. The kaleidoscope can be magnetically attached to its included matching base, crafted from glossy black and opaque white acrylics, which is self illuminating and runs on three AAA batteries. This scope measures approximately 5.5"T x 2"Diameter at the cell end, the base is about 2.75"diameter and the scope is about 6.75"T when connected. Signed (C. Bennett) and dated (2024) by the artist.
