'Over the Rainbow' is an incredible, 44 YEAR OLD VINTAGE (1982), handheld kaleidoscope by American artist Sue Ross. The substantial triangular glass body was created using peach swirled variable stained glass panels that have a delightful pastel rainbow shift, featuring Deco floral embellishments, with oxidized and sealed soldering throughout. This is a sharp 3-mirror, 3-point system with a handmade lamp-worked glass object marble that's super vibrant, richly colored, and artist signed (I cannot make out the name), which together create fantastic kaleidoscopic imagery. The marble sets over an open end, not glass sealed, so care is to be taken when not in use to prevent dust from entering the scope. Note of interest; the last few internal photos in this listing were taken while moving a flashlight along the length of the scope's body, causing flashes of golden-orange to move toward and away from view, how cool! This magnificent, nearly half-century old collectors piece measures approximately 13.5"L x 2.25"W x 2"T and is signed (Sue Ross) by the artist.
