"Shining Bottle" is delightful handheld kaleidoscope by Japanese artist Chikako Ishida. The scope body is a tiny, delicate, hand-blown glass "genie-like" bottle which contains crinkled birefringent material, little beads, and a tiny faceted gemstone. The scope captures light, reflected/refracted, from the dichroic (color shifting) film and beads inside, and creates wonderful swirly, color shifting, kaleidoscopic imagery. Give the bottle a gentle shake and the colors viewed will move and shift. This scope is also a sort of teleidoscope as it's entire body is clear glass, so as you look through the lens, you will also be able see past the imagery to whatever is beyond the piece itself. A lot of exciting viewing possibilities with this magical scope. Measures approximately 3.25"T x 1.25" in diameter at the object end.
