'Stratus' is a magical handheld kaleidoscope by retired American artist duo Skeeter and Peter DeMattia. This VINTAGE (1997) collectors delight is 3-sided, with panels of black glass, one of which has colored glass windows added into it allowing light to enter into the scope's tunnel and causes green, red, and blue light effects to enhance the imagery seen. The turning glass object cell is dry, front and side lit, filled with fantastic handmade lampwork glass rods, twists, beads, and teeny Millefiori bits. There is also super cool fancy soldering along the entire piece giving it an extra mysterious allure. The body houses a wickedly cool 2-mirror, 3-pointed system that creates beautiful "mandala-style" kaleidoscopic imagery. This scope is rare and any scope fan would be excited to have it in their collection. Measures approximately 10"T x 3"W and the object cell is 2.5"Diameter. Signed (S/P♡) by the artists.
