"Worlds Of Themselves" is a intriguing parlor kaleidoscope from artist and scope master Steven Gray. When looking through the magnilying lens the viewer is treated to a plethora of lampwork glass spheres on a colorful background. Each bead contains its own superimposed, kaleidoscopic imagery, and as the cell is rotated the image within each bead moves as the background slowly changes colors. The ring closest to the eye can also be rotated allowing the beads within your view to roll and shift. Additionally, the viewing port magnifying lens can be focused to compensate for various eyes. This scope was created from Black Walnut, Maple Burl, and Black Ivory (Ebony related). NOTE: Scope body is attached to base and has a very slight "wiggle" which doesn't affect the viewing of internal imagery in any way. Measures approximately 16"Tall x 11"Deep, x 7"Wide. Limited to an edition of only 10, Signed (Steven J. Gray) dated (1992) and numbered (#5/10) by the artist.
From the artist; "This scope has been on my mind for quite awhile and I was waiting for an appropriate solution for the challenges that were presented. I'm very pleased with the function and outward look that was the result of my quandary."
