'Aurora' is a lovely handheld kaleidoscope by Japanese artist Chikako Ishida. The body is made of a completely smooth single glass piece that has elegant fluting on the inside, with a reflective and color-shifting film laid beneath, giving it a magical effect. This is a 2-mirror, 7-point system that has a stained wood viewing port cap. There is an enclosed, dry, non-turning, front and side lit, MULTI-LAYERED, object chamber; first, a slice of translucent black glass attached to the very top of the chamber, the next layer is filled with delicate pieces of tiny handmade lampwork glass, and finally a slice of translucent frosted white glass. The sides of the object chamber have polarized birefringent film that shifts colors as light passes through it. This scope creates elegant, color shifting, and gorgeous "mandala-style" kaleidoscopic imagery. This scope measures approximately 6"L x 2"Diameter.
