'Blink of Time' is a uniquely handsome handheld kaleidoscope by Japanese artist Chitoshi Takabayashi. The body is made with strips of Red Oak hardwood that has been dyed black through an Iron Mordant technique, and set into notched rings of solid antiqued Brass. This is a 2-mirror, 4-point system with a non-turning, glycerin-filled, side and front lit, translucent white backgrounded object chamber containing Chitoshi's handmade lamp-worked glass pieces in delicate swirling white hues. The "mandala-style" kaleidoscopic imagery produced by this scope creates an aesthetic reminiscent of flickering candlelight illuminating a smokey room. Measures approximately 6"L x 2"Diameter and includes a wooden stand. NOTE: The last two internal images show how moving a light source to a different angle while illuminating the cell can drastically alter the image you'll see.
