Product Details
'Cards' is a delightfully curious handheld kaleidoscope by Japanese artist Hiroshi Wakabayashi. The body was constructed from a clear acrylic cylinder with Hiroshi's delicately textured, hand-painted metallic art applied to it's inside. The outer body features a two playing cards, with lovely illustrations of the Lewis Carroll 'Alice's Adventures in Wonderland' character. There is a turning, front lit, dry object cell containing (clear) birefringent bits & slices and teeny tiny clear beads. This scope houses a 3-mirror, 8-point system which creates playful, crisp, polarized (color-shifting), full-view kaleidoscopic imagery. Measures approximately 7"T x 2" Diameter at the object cell end.
Note: The set of 6 images show that if you move a light source at different angles into the object cell, the colors created will shift and change before your eyes even without turning the cell at all, like magic. The last set of 4 internal images were shot using a UV Black Light, all colors become quite NEON.
