'Desert Aurorascopealis' is a beautiful, large parlor kaleidoscope collaboration by renowned scope makers, Sue Rioux and Marc Tickle. Sue and Marc held a class on creating this piece at our location in October during "Kaleidoscope Weekend 2026". Students learned about mirrors and stained glass in order to build their very own versions of this incredible piece. The incredible mirror system was taught by Marc, a mirror master, and the gorgeous body and cell are Sue's signature scope-style creation. Together each student created their own version to take home and we are lucky enough to have the one Sue and Marc built during instruction and now it can be yours! The stained glass body features a serene setting/rising Sun over a desert with multi-level blooming cactus. One side panel is translucent, and moving a flashlight along this side causes a GLORIOUS COLOR CHANGING aurora effect over and through the completely spectacular modified 14-point mirror system, easily enjoyed through a large viewing port. The turning, oil-filled glass object cylinder contains handmade lamp-worked pieces, dichroic (color shifting) glass bits, fluid-filled glass ampules, Millefiori glass slices, twisted colorful wire, and other sparkly beads and bits. Scope is mounted to a solid wooden base. Purchase includes two flashlights, one LED the other UV Black light, so it's ready to enjoy straight out of the box. This unique limited collaboration (of only 13 made) produces unbelievably stunning kaleidoscopic imagery that is much better in person than the internal pictures here show. Measures approximately 15.5"T x 6"W x 3.5"D, object cylinder is 6"L.
