"Dogtooth Calcite" is a gorgeous, earthy kaleidoscoope by artist Steve Failows. The body is a ceramic 'cone' shape, with a shimmering copper brown glaze, that sets atop a one-of-a-kind genuine Dogtooth Calcite cluster base with a hand-soldered armature. The scope itself rotates a full 360 degrees over the cluster. There are dual spinning object wheels of stained glass and beads with a tapered 3-mirror system inside. This scope has an extra large viewing port making it easy to enjoy the 3-dimensional spherical imagery with both eyes instead of the more standard single eye view. This entire piece stands at approximately 13.5"Tall x 10"Wide x 7"Deep. The biggest object wheel is about 5" Diameter, and the detachable kaleidoscope itself is approximately 11.5"Long x 5.25"Diameter at the viewing end. Dogtooth Calcite is a variety of Calcite that forms as multiple scalenohedral crystals.
