'Erosion' is a dreamy handheld kaleidoscope by Japanese artist Chitoshi Takabayashi. The pear shaped scope body was made from solid hardwood in Burmese Rosewood and is quite heavy, giving this scope a nice substantial weight in your hand, with antiqued brass end pieces. This is a 2-mirror, 7-point system, with a 13-point frame. There is a turning, oil-filled, side-lit, and translucent black background object cell containing tiny handmade lampwork glass pieces in delicate twists and ruffles. Scope creates swoon worthy "mandala-style" kaleidoscopic imagery. Measures approximately 5.25"L x 3"W at its largest point. Signed and dated (2025) by the artist.
