Product Details
"Get in Gear" is a handsome parlor kaleidoscope by American artists Peggy and Steve Kittelson. The barrel and round bottom base were created with turned Figured Walnut from the crotch of the tree. The gears on the column are from various transmissions and the bands on the barrel are steel with steel rivets. Knotty wood openings have been inlaid with delicate dichroic glass bits. Scope body houses a dazzling 2-mirror, 9-point system with the 3rd side made of a patterned, piece of dichroic glass which reflects and shifts with the items in the object cell. There is turning, oil-filled, side-lit, black background object cell containing tiny gears, dichroic (color shifting) glass, and Peggy's own handmade lampwork glass pieces. The kaleidoscopic imagery created is absolutely mesmerizing and will impress anyone lucky enough to have a look inside. Piece measures approximately 14.5"T, scope barrel 11.5"L x 3"Diameter, base 7.75"Diameter. Titled (Get In Gear), numbered (#19), dated (2022), and signed (Peggy & Steve Kittelson) by the artists.
