'Giant Amethyst' is a fantastical parlor kaleidoscope by American artist Steve Failows. The body of this handmade cylindrical kaleidoscope is ceramic with a wickedly cool, gun-metal-shimmer & black-reflective-rainbow glaze that it is just incredible. The body houses a 3-mirror system and sets onto a gigantic, one of a kind, natural Amethyst geode base. The kaleidoscope rotates 360° over the Amethyst geode and is easily removable simply by lifting it up and off of the base itself. Everything is finished with extra fancy soldering in copper, which will naturally develop a gorgeous patina over time, and the bottom of the piece has a black felt covering. This scope has double, spinning, textured, and colorfully painted stained glass object wheels, and features a larger than usual viewing port which allows for easy viewing of the beautiful, full view, kaleidoscopic imagery created. Entire piece measures approximately "17.5 tall, 9"W x 8"D at the sturdy base. The scope itself measures approximately 14.5"L x 4"Diameter at the viewing port end, and the larger of the two object wheels is 6"Diameter. Signed (S Failows) by the artist at the viewing end.
