'Mariposa' (Spanish for "butterfly") is a tetrahedron parlor kaleidoscope by British artist and scope master, Marc Tickle. This incredible work of art's three sided body is made of two glass panels with underlying hand painted abstract art in stunning, shimmery, alcohol ink. The third side is crystal clear glass that shows you exactly what is happening inside. Look inside the body to see Marc's colorful hand-painted butterfly art, PLUS there are 3-dimensional, handmade, butterflies "fluttering" around the central "floating" pedestal. The turning, oil-filled, black background object cell contains handmade lampwork glass pieces, Millefiori glass chunks, and dichroic (color shifting) glass bits. This is a 2-mirror, 4-point system that, through the magic of mirrors, appears as a 3-Dimensional floating kaleidoscopic image inside of the body. There is a triangular viewing port at the very top of the piece which gives the ultimate "mandala-style" kaleidoscopic imagery when gazing in, but you can also enjoy the moving imagery through the clear side of the body. Another cool effect this scope has; if you direct light at the piece of dichroic glass beneath the object cell, it will cause bursts of color from under the floating platform in which the mandala sets. Using multiple light sources, such as small LCD flashlights, to illuminate different areas of this scope at the same time will alter views of this scope greatly, making it an incredibly interactive and fun scope to play with. This is an absolutely stunning work of art that any collector would love to own. Measures approximately 12"T x 5.75"W x 8"D. Titled (Mariposa), numbered (3/25), dated ('25), and signed (M. Tickle) by the artist.

From the artist; "I cut away a portion of both mirrors which creates the central pedestal, upon which is the moving mandala. The illuminated/decorated base inside, surrounding the central pedestal is drawn, painted and gilded. I made the initial sketch and color selections, then printed that design onto archival paper, then I go back and individually customize the rest of the design, adding the metallic paint and details such as the dots etc... the edition is made up of 25 pieces, but they are all different in the way I decorate and illuminate the base design."
