"Noir Lumiere", meaning "black light", is a limited edition parlor kaleidoscope by artists Steve and Peggy Kittelson. There is a turning end, side-lit, oil-filled object cell which contains only flame-sculpted dichroic pieces, both patterned and solid, with a black background. The barrel is black glass with iridized silver, gold, blues, and black squares in a mosaic-style pattern. This complex exterior pattern was created by cutting individual pieces of glass, which were fused in stages, and then formed to the shape of the glass body. This scope is mounted on a comtemporary pedestal of solid Walnut wood. Piece measures approximately 14"T x 12"L x 5-3/4"W at the base. The scope itself is 4" in diameter and 12"L. This scope houses a 2-mirror system and is signed (Peggy and Steve Kittelson), dated (1999), and numbered (#2 of 10).
