'Silken Repose' (1995) is a highly unique, (COLLECTORS ALERT) handheld kaleidoscope, one of the earliest developed by renowned masters of mixed media, Luc and Sallie Durette. The body was created in gorgeous white glass panels with a pastel iridescent sheen. The body houses both a 2-mirror, 6-point and a 3-mirror, 6-point system. There are two intricate, turning, object wheels; the outer wheel consists of hand-painted silk encased and framed by glass, while the inner wheel has dichroic (color shifting) glass and delightful dried flowers pressed between glass panels, together creating layers of vibrant colors and depth in the absolutely beautiful resulting kaleidoscopic imagery. Measures approximately 10.5"L x 3.5"W x 4.74"H including the wheels, which are about 4.25"Diameter. Signed (Luc) by the artist.
