'SK-9' is a modern and substantial parlor kaleidoscope by American artist Rodney Haug. This striking sculptural piece was engineered from Aluminum and solid Oak. In the title, "SK" stands for "Simple Kaleidoscope" and the 9 is reference to "Canine" or "K-9", as this scope is named for Rodney's dog Bentley. The large scope itself is removable from the base, as is the object cell, makes for easy cleaning. Inside the base, are two wheels that support and rotate the turning, 9" Diameter, oil-filled object cell. Inside the cell are large and twisty handmade lampwork glass pieces in bright cheerful colors with some that are completely clear. There are also two glass ampules, one filled with a flowing red liquid and the other containing colorful loose glass chips, and the BEST part is an aluminium, black powder-coated, silhouette of Bentley's nose print, which completes the K-9 theme! This is a 2-mirror, 9-point system that creates brilliant and absolutely gigantic "mandala-style" kaleidoscopic imagery. Piece is titled "SK-9" on a brass plate at the eyepiece end of the base, and a brass plate stating "SK-9 Parlor Scope, Created by Rodney Haug, Northland Scopes Kaleidoscopes" is mounted on the cell end of the base. Measures approximately 19"L x 12"W x 18.5"T. Hand signed (Rodney Haug) on the underside of the base.

Note: This scope was a whole lot more fun and gorgeous than I'd anticipated, shooting images of the inside was a breeze with the large viewing port, and the images are SO beautiful it was difficult to choose which to add to this listing. Enjoy!
