Product Details
'Slumped Set' - Green is a VINTAGE 1994 (32 years) handheld kaleidoscope set created by scope master Charles Karadimos. The set was created in green swirled slumped glass. The body features a lovely green "eye" on the front, with smaller "eye shaped" white accents along each side, and it houses a 2-mirror, 12-point system. There are 3 object cells with a custom made, mirror bottomed, matching box to store them in. The cells each have its own unique background; one is perfectly clear with a slight ripple in the glass, another has a textured leaves under it's clear surface, and the third is a dazzling dichroic (color-shifting) glass for the background. All 3 are filled with Charles' lamp-worked glass pieces, glass shards, dichroic glass chips and other colorful bits. A simple lift and slide lever is used to open a peg holding the cell in place, use it to switch between the three object cells, as seen in photos. This set also incudes a custom made slumped glass resting cradle for the scope to set into while not in use. Measures approximately 10"L and the cells are 2"Diameter. Dated (1994A) and signed (CSKaradimos) by the artist, on the scope, box, and each cell. Note: The last SIX internal images all are of the same CELL SET, only the light source was moved, yet the image is different. Play with your light sources, try looking using an LED, an incandescent, or even sunlight!
Disclaimer: This is a vintage kaleidoscope and due to its age it does have a visible mirror line, as seen in the internal images, yet it didn't take away from my enjoyment while shooting this rare and beautiful piece.
