Product Details
'Sphaera' is an incredible VINTAGE (1993) large handheld kaleidoscope by renowned American kaleidoscope and glass artist Sherry Moser. The body was created in a fantastic display of multiple triangles, constructed from panels of black amethyst, mirrored 'German New-Antique' glass panels. While often appearing completely black to the eye, these panels are specifically formulated to reveal a rich, dark amethyst or violet purple hue when held up to a direct, strong light source. Amethyst glass rods accent the panel edges, a casted clear glass jewel is set into each main side panel, and adorable little glass "feet" are attached to the body underside. There is a LARGE viewing window, allowing user to see inside with both eyes instead of one. The body houses a large, tapered mirror system, creating a 3-dimensional, multi-spiked sphere of SPECTACULAR kaleidoscopic imagery. The turning, oil-filled, acrylic object cell is completely clear and contains twisty, translucent, handmade lamp-worked glass pieces. This 33 year old collectors scope is in near perfect condition and will delight all that are lucky enough to gaze into it. Measures approximately 15"L x 5"T x 6"W at the viewing end, object cell is 3.25"Diameter. Titled (Sphaera), numbered, (76/300), dated ('93), and signed (S. Moser) by the artist.
