'The Charles G. Bush Kaleidoscope - Reproduction' is a traditional parlor kaleidoscope by Erik Van Cort of the 'Van Cort Instrument Makers'. Mounted onto a Mahogany wooden base, the leather covered body houses a 2-mirror, 5-point system and the brass, turning, end-lit, dry object chamber is filled with colorful handmade lampwork glass pieces and fluid-filled glass ampules, with a translucent frosted background and features Bush's classic "ships wheel" spokes. This kaleidoscope creates beautiful, traditional, "mandala-style" kaleidoscopic imagery. The brass turning end is stamped "C.G. Bush and Co. Prov RI Patent Reissued Nov 11, 1873", the wooden base has been stamped "C.G. Bush Patented Nov. 17, 1873", and the brass viewing port is stamped, "Van Cort No. 2316/2500", beneath the included dust cover. Piece measures approximately 15.5"T x 10"L x 3.5"Diameter (barrel), and is 7"W across the base feet.

Note: This reproduction (from 1989) was so perfect that, when it was released, the market for the original Bush kaleidoscope crashed for over two years!
