Product Details
'The Monet Gallery' (aka Monet’s Garden), is a dreamy handheld kaleidoscope collaboration by American artists Sherry Moser and Judith Paul. The body was created in Black Spectrum glass with fancy soldering. The front of the piece features a miniature painting, hand-painted by Judith Paul, in the style of Monet's 'Water Lilies and Japanese Bridge (1899)' in acrylic on canvas, heavily varnished, and inset into the glass with a gilded ornamental solder frame. Inside is a 2-mirror chorus line system that has brass filigree masking, which frames the kaleidoscopic imagery creating the illusion of a moving, framed painting when you peer inside. There is an acrylic, turning, side lit, oil-filled, black backgrounded object cell containing Sherry's exquisitely created lamp-worked glass pieces, including highly detailed flowers and even a little bridge. Displayed on the included solid brass easel, the scope is lifted off for gazing into the large rectangular viewing port and enjoying the spectacular display. Titled (©The Monet Garden), dated ('95), numbered (51/100), and signed (S.Moser/J.Paul) by the artists.
Awards: In 1995 this kaleidoscope won the "People's Choice Award - Best Exterior - Limited Edition" and the "Brewster Award for Creative Ingenuity" - the only kaleidoscope to win both awards that year.
