'The Oblesk' (1992) is a RARE (#10 of only 20 made), towering, and mysterious parlor kaleidoscope by kaleidoscope master, Charles Karadimos. This large parlor has a glossy black slumped glass body with a cool design in white, gray, black, red, and blue fused glass on the front of the piece. This scope houses its own internal lighting system, powered with an included wall adaptor or (4) AA batteries, all hidden in a compartment with a swing-open door beneath the object cell. The glass object cell contains Charle's signature handmade lamp-worked glass pieces, dry ampules with teeny beads inside, and other random glass bits and pieces that together create absolutely mesmerizing "mandala-style" kaleidoscopic imagery, PLUS there are two interchangeable background fields, one while, the other black, that slip into a slotted area the sets beneath the object cell. Shooting the inside of this unique statement piece was a lot of fun, please note, I did use a "cool-white" flashlight along with the included "warm-white" internal light in some of the internal images, just to play with the lighting, and although I didn't try a UV black-light I'd guess it would also look pretty cool. Any collector would be proud to showcase this work of art in their collection. Measures approximately 17.25"T x 12.5"D x 5.5"W, the cell is 3.25"Diameter. Titled (The Oblesk), numbered (10/20), dated (1992), and signed (CS Karadimos) by the artist.
