'Tradition' is an incredible double parlor kaleidoscope by American artist Sue Rioux. The body is a gorgeous design in stained glass that is reminiscent of Dutch Folk Art in style and color scheme. Blue glass rods, glass pebbles with mandalas in them, and decorative copper soldering embellish this scope. Rotating on it's own platform is a large oil-filled, side and top lit, glass object cell containing handmade lampwork glass pieces, colorful beads, dichroic (color shifting) glass, and other glittery items. This piece has both a 2-mirror and a 3-mirror system, which are viewable from the top of the scope in two separate viewing ports, each creating fantastical kaleidoscopic imagery. Measures approximately 13"T x 6"W x 4.75"D, object cell is 3.25" Diameter. Titled (Tradition), dated (2026), and signed (Sue Rioux) by the artist.
